New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah delivered a firm message during the 32nd meeting of the Northern Zonal Council in New Delhi, declaring that those responsible for the car explosion near the Red Fort would be pursued without restraint and brought before the justice system. His remarks came as the death toll from the November 10 blast climbed to 15 following the passing of two more victims at LNJP Hospital.
Shah said the government remains unwavering in its commitment to eliminating terrorism and ensuring that acts of violence are met with the strongest possible legal action. He stressed that the investigation into the explosion will be exhaustive, supported by a coordinated effort among multiple agencies working to identify and apprehend every individual involved.
The Home Minister reaffirmed that no distance or obstacle would impede the search for the culprits. He emphasised that those behind the attack would be located, produced before the courts, and penalised with maximum severity under the law. His comments reflected the seriousness with which the government is approaching the incident, which has raised significant concerns about security in the capital.
The meeting opened with a tribute to the victims of the Red Fort blast and the explosion at the Nowgam Police Station in Jammu and Kashmir. Officials observed a two-minute silence to honour those who lost their lives in the recent attacks.
Shah highlighted the role of Zonal Councils as essential platforms for strengthening coordination among states, advancing cooperative frameworks and ensuring alignment on key policies. He noted that the councils have historically helped resolve a wide range of inter-state issues through structured dialogue and shared strategies.
As investigative teams continue to piece together the circumstances of the blast, the government has signalled its intent to maintain heightened vigilance and reinforce security measures. The case remains a top priority, with authorities focused on uncovering the full network behind the attack and preventing similar incidents in the future.
