New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has issued a stern warning to terrorists responsible for the deadly Pahalgam attack, stating that the fight against terrorism is far from over and that every individual involved will be relentlessly pursued and brought to justice.
Addressing an event in Assam on Thursday, Shah emphasized that the terrorists should not believe they have won after the tragic loss of 28 innocent lives in the Pahalgam massacre. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism from the region. “The fight is not yet over. They should not think that after killing our 28 people, they have won the war,” Shah asserted.
The attack, which occurred on April 22, 2025, in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, targeted a group of tourists. The assailants, believed to be affiliated with the Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, singled out non-Muslim victims before opening fire. The incident has been condemned globally and has significantly strained Indo-Pakistani relations.
In response to the attack, India has taken several decisive actions, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, expelling Pakistani diplomats, and closing border crossings. Pakistan has reciprocated by closing its airspace and halting Indian visa issuances. Both nations have reported increased military activity along the Line of Control, raising concerns of potential escalation.
Shah reiterated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. He assured that the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack would face severe consequences, emphasizing that the Modi government is committed to uprooting terrorism from the country.I
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation, and security agencies are on high alert to prevent further incidents. Shah’s visit to the site of the attack and his subsequent tribute to the victims underscore the government’s resolve to combat terrorism and ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
As tensions remain high, the international community has urged both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and seek peaceful resolutions to the ongoing crisis.
