New Delhi:
As the Delhi Assembly elections approach, Union Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Shah delivered a blistering attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders during an election rally in Jangpura, marking the final day of campaigning. Shah’s remarks were aimed squarely at AAP’s Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal, highlighting what he termed as their failures and corruption.
Shah accused Manish Sisodia, the former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, of achieving nothing substantial in his 10-year tenure except for the controversial opening of liquor shops near schools and temples. He emphasized that Sisodia is the only education minister in the country to have been jailed in a liquor scam. Sisodia, who is now contesting from the Jangpura Assembly seat after leaving his previous constituency of Patparganj, was criticized for allegedly deceiving the people of Patparganj and making false promises in his new constituency.
Shah also targeted AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, referring to him and Sisodia as “bade miyan and chote miyan” who have allegedly looted Delhi through the liquor scam. He criticized Kejriwal for failing to fulfill his promise to clean the Yamuna River, instead promising that if the BJP comes to power, they will construct the Yamuna River Front within three years.
The Union Home Minister argued that Delhi has lagged behind in development due to the constant conflicts between the AAP government and the Centre. He alleged that the AAP government has delivered nothing but garbage, toxic water, and corruption to the people of Delhi, rather than progress and development.
Shah’s comments underscore the intense political battle ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for February 5, with the results to be declared on February 8. The rally in Jangpura was part of the BJP’s aggressive campaign to sway voters away from the AAP and towards the BJP’s vision for Delhi’s future.
