PORVORIM: In a late-night operation, the Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC), St. Cruz, unearthed an illegal indoor cannabis cultivation setup at a residential complex in Alto Porvorim, Bardez.
Acting on specific intelligence and armed with a house search warrant, ANC officials conducted a meticulously planned raid around midnight on February 17, 2026.
Following the operation, Crime No. 06/2026 was registered under Sections 20(a), 20(b)(ii)(A) read with 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
During the search, officers seized five illegally cultivated cannabis plants grown in polythene bags, along with 16 grams of suspected ganja, 22 grams of suspected hydroponic weed (high-potency cannabis), and three suspected cannabis seeds.
The total value of the seized contraband is estimated at ₹1,28,600.
Preliminary investigation points to deliberate cultivation and possession within the premises.
However, officials have withheld the identities of the accused as efforts are underway to establish forward linkages.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Vikesh Hadfackar of ANC under the guidance of PI Sagar Sawant and supervision of SP ANC Nerlon Albuquerque and SP ANC Sunita Sawant.
