VASCO: Anjuman Himayatul Islam High School, Baina, Vasco da Gama, celebrated its Annual Day with the theme ‘Yug Sangam – Confluence of Era’, marked by the felicitation of former student Sneha Yadav, the only girl from Goa to be selected into the Border Security Force and currently posted at the Indo-Bangladesh border.
The school magazine ‘Spectra’, conceptualised, composed and designed by students, was released by the chief guest Bhaginath Shetye, chairman of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. Assistant Directors of Education Sanjana Kerkar and Samiksha Naik attended as guests of honour. Also present were school chairman Iqbal Mohidin, Hamdard Education Society president Azim Mohidin, and school manager Nazir Sayed.
Sneha Yadav was felicitated at the hands of the chief guest in recognition of her achievement, drawing loud applause from students, parents and staff.
Headmaster M P Dabholkar presented the annual school report, outlining the institution’s academic progress and achievements in co-curricular and extracurricular activities over the year.
Addressing the gathering, chairman Iqbal Mohidin urged students to step out of their comfort zones and prepare themselves to face life’s challenges through education and hard work. He also appealed to teachers to continually upgrade their teaching skills and instil a sense of patriotism and nationalism among students.
Chief guest Bhaginath Shetye encouraged students to remain focused on their goals with patience and perseverance, advising them not to be disheartened by failures but to treat them as learning experiences.
The cultural segment featured skits and songs presented by past and present students, adding colour to the celebrations. The programme was compered by Sajida Shaikh, Saba Shaikh and Pradnya Naik, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Sushma Naik Xetgaonkar.
