PANAJI: The High Court of Bombay at Goa declined to offer any sort of relief to the 175 structures at Anjuna that are purportedly illegal.
As per its previous order, the Court instructed the owners to seek a de-sealing order and present the appropriate documentation, permissions, and licenses from the relevant authorities.
A few of the owners of the structures had petitioned the court to have the sealing order from February 13 modified, arguing that their buildings were only temporary in nature.
According to the High Court’s previous ruling, the structures require a license under Section 66 of the Panchayat Raj Act and TCP permission under building regulations.
Some of the owners had argued that since their structures are temporary, they are exempt from these regulations and that they have obtained permission from the GCZMA, Tourism, and other regulatory bodies, whose approvals must be obtained by temporary.
During the hearing, the Court found that these 175 commercial establishments were operating without obtaining construction licences, trade licences and occupation certificates.
Earlier, of the total 275 structures situated in the Anjuna and Vagator belt operating from allegedly illegal premises within No Development Zone (NDZ), the panchayat had issued demolition orders to 100 structures and further issued show cause notices to remaining 175 structures.
