PANAJI: The High Court of Bombay at Goa today has issued show cause notices to five commercial establishments in Anjuna for maximum violation of noise pollution.
Also phone numbers of police teams constituted to patrol the beach belt were circulated to people to inform violation.
AG Pangam said that five parties that received the most complaints about noise standard violations have been joined as respondents, and the High Court has issued notices to them.
HC said that the Pollution Control Board is responsible for monitoring their activities.
Additionally, the court has issued an order, as requested by the Advocate General of Goa and others, to establish contact numbers for reporting noise pollution complaints.
“If a violation is reported, the public can call the three numbers which will be provided. If no action is taken, the SDPO will investigate the matter and take immediate action,” Pangam informed
“Will make owners of these party spots part of this case and they should not be saying that they are not running the places,” reasoned Justice Karnik.
“We are going to inspect the parameters on which licences should be issued to such places,” said GSPCB advocate Salkar, to which Justice Menezes shot back, “You should have done this before.”
“We are contemplating a law that can regulate noise pollution,” admitted Advocate General Pangam. “Nobody has a problem if sound does not come out,” observed Justice Karnik.
