ANJUNA: Anjuna police have filed a case against Police Constable Saish Parsekar, who was driving a police jeep, following allegations of stealing gold ornaments worth ₹7–8 lakh from a man who died in a road accident in Anjuna.
The complaint was filed by Jovi Rodriguez, brother of the deceased, 27-year-old Juster Rodriguez. According to the family, the accused allegedly took a gold bracelet, earrings, and a ring that belonged to the deceased.
The accident occurred on January 25 at around 3:15 am near Rocky Garage in Anjuna. Juster Rodriguez was traveling from Arpora to Anjuna when he reportedly lost control of his car, which plunged into a ditch. He suffered severe injuries and later died during treatment at Mapusa District Hospital.
The complaint stated that shortly after the accident, when Jovi attempted to call his brother’s phone, Constable Saish Parsekar, who was at the scene as the police jeep driver, answered the call. Later, during the official documentation of the accident (panchanama), the police handed over the deceased’s belongings to his family—but the jewellery he was wearing at the time of the accident was missing.
Suspecting theft, the family lodged a formal complaint, prompting the Anjuna police to register a case against the constable. Investigations are currently underway.
