Pernem: The Annual Training Camp (ATC) of 1 Goa Naval Unit NCC is presently being conducted at the Multipurpose Sports Stadium, Pernem, under the command of Capt Sumeet Sinha, Commanding Officer of the unit.
The camp has provided an effective platform for NCC cadets to enhance their physical fitness, mental alertness, social awareness and a strong sense of unity and camaraderie, in line with the ethos of the National Cadet Corps.
Around 500 NCC cadets from 25 educational institutions across Goa are participating in the camp. The training is being conducted with the active support of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Goa, whose cooperation and logistical assistance have played a vital role in the smooth conduct of the camp.
The camp administration is being efficiently managed by a dedicated team comprising Permanent Instructional (PI) staff, State Government staff and Associate NCC Officers (ANOs).
The training programme is aimed at developing discipline, leadership qualities and overall personality of the cadets. It includes activities such as weapon handling, boat pulling practice on simulators, semaphore training, and lectures on various service-related subjects. In addition, expert talks on road safety, drug abuse awareness, cyber crime prevention and defence recruitment have been organised.
To encourage teamwork and healthy competition, several inter-institutional competitions including drill, song and dance, football, tug of war, drawing and essay writing are also being held during the camp.
