PANAJI: Another setback for IPSCDL as the drainage system under construction for Mission Smart City collapsed close to Taad-Maad, Tonca, resulting in structural damage to the nearby temple.
On Sunday, the state was battered by intense rain, which coincided with the incident. Witnesses claimed that while the manhole was being built, the nearby drainage system collapsed.
Mayor Rohit Monserrate inspected the collapsed structure at Taad-Maad, St Inez and assured to prioritize temple and banyan tree.
“Contractor instructed to backfill, secure the temple before reinstating the structure; shoring to be installed to protect the temple before continuing with drain work,” said Monserrate
Goa Forward Party (GFP) General Secretary Durgadas Kamat said that his partyhas been saying from the beginning that the works carried out by Smart City needs to be audited as substandard works are being carried out.
“Today’s collapse of the concrete structure at Taad Maad should open the eyes of BJP Govt. An FIR should be registered immediately against the contractor and a Criminal Probe should be initiated,” said Kamat
He also said that our President Vijai Sardesai had said on the floor of the house “Smart City can’t be made by Stupid People”.
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa President Amit Palekar has demanded Criminal investigation into IPSCDL and contractor and corruption involved in Smart City Panaji work.
CM Pramod Sawant and BJP is deeply involved in this corruption. Taad Maad will not spare all those involved in this corruption. Why not make audit of work carried out public, what are you scared of CM Sir?,” questioned Palekar.
