Calangute police have busted a betting racket during the ICC World Cup Cricket match on Thursday.
0n 19.10.2023 between 19:15 hrs and 21:05 hrs on specific and reliable information, a gambling raid was conducted at an Apartment at Gaurawado Calangute, Bardez Goa, wherein the accused persons namely (1) Prajeesh S/o Ramachandra, age 36 yrs, R/o GerusaluHosangadi (P) & (V), Kundapura, Udupi, Karnataka and 2) Suman Harshith S/o K. P. Dinesh, age 26 yrs, R/o Bolur, SheshambCompound, Mangalore, Karnataka were caught red handed while accepting gambling bets by using mobile phones and laptop on the on-going ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 match played between India and Bangladesh, and seized from their possession 08 mobile phones, 01 Laptop and a television set, all worth Rs. 1,50,000/- approximately.
Further investigation is in progress with PSI Rajaram Bagkar of Calangute PS under the supervision of PI Calangute Paresh Naik and SDPO Porvorim Shri. Vishwesh Karpe and overall supervision of SP North Shri. Nidhin Valsan.
