MARGAO: Margao police’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) on Saturday night rescued two women who had been trafficked from West Bengal and forced into prostitution. The raid was conducted on August 30 near Hotel Silva Rosa, Colva, with the assistance of a decoy customer and an NGO. According to police, the accused Suresh Nayak (33), a resident of Benaulim-Colva, and Raju, a native of West Bengal, had confined the women and were exploiting them. Nayak was caught red-handed while delivering the victims to a decoy customer and was immediately arrested. An offence has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Further investigation is being carried out by PI Sudiksha S. Naik of the AHTU, under the supervision of SDPO Margao Shri Siddhant Shirodkar and overall guidance of SP (South) Margao, Shri Tikam Singh Verma.
