CALANGUTE/ARPORA: Police have registered two separate cases after LED display boards outside a wine store and a salon in Bardez showed the slogan “Pakistan Zindabad”, triggering outrage among locals late on Tuesday.
In the first incident, Anjuna Police registered Crime No. 145/2025 under Sections 152 read with 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and Sections 66C and 66F of the IT Act, based on a complaint by Roshan Redkar, a resident of Arpora.
The complaint stated that around 9:50 pm on November 4, the LED board at “Whiskey Pedia” wine store in Arpora displayed the anti-national slogan.
The accused have been identified as Ranchit Bhatia and Vipin Pahuja, both from Haryana, along with Vinay Chandra Rao and Krishna Lamani from Karnataka, and Manoj Kumar from Bihar.
In a similar case, Calangute Police registered an offence based on a complaint by PSI Rajaram Bagkar after the LED board at “New Revive Unisex Salon” in Sauntawado, Calangute, displayed the same slogan around 10:18 pm.
The accused in this case are Mohd. Farman, Noushad, and Mohd. Shavez — all from Uttar Pradesh and Delhi — along with Rakesh Das, a local resident of Calangute.
Police have invoked stringent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act, terming the acts as deliberate attempts to provoke public anger and threaten national integrity. Further investigation in both cases is underway.
