SANCOALE: In pursuance of the special meeting convened on Wednesday for the election of Sarpanch, Anusha Lamani, a panch member from Ward No. 10, was declared elected unopposed as the new Sarpanch of Sancoale Panchayat. The meeting was held at the office of the panchayat under the supervision of Nicolas Quadros, who acted as the Presiding Officer on behalf of the Block Development Office, Mormugao.
The 11-member Sancoale Panchayat witnessed no other nominations for the post, paving the way for Lamani’s unanimous election. She is the wife of Govind Lamani, who had earlier served as a panch of Sancoale Panchayat for 10 years.
The Lamani family has maintained a strong hold over Ward No. 10, with Govind Lamani serving as panch for a decade. Before him, his aunt Sharada Rathod was also a panch member and had held the post of Sarpanch in the past, strengthening the family’s political legacy in the village.
After her unopposed election, Lamani thanked all the panch members for their confidence in her candidature. “I am grateful for the trust shown in me. My focus will be on ensuring better infrastructure, improved cleanliness, and overall development of Sancoale so that our residents can experience tangible progress in their daily lives,” she said, adding that collective efforts with the support of all members would be her priority.
