PANAJI: The Directorate of Transport has released its monthly report for April 2025, revealing a total of 198 road accidents across Goa, with North Goa and South Goa equally affected.
Of these, 24 were fatal accidents, claiming the lives of 26 people.
The breakdown shows that North Goa and South Goa each reported 12 fatal accidents.
Grievous accidents numbered 15, with 7 in North Goa and 8 in South Goa. Minor accidents were recorded at 43 cases, with South Goa witnessing more incidents (30) compared to North Goa (13).
Non-injury accidents comprised the majority with 116 cases reported (North Goa – 51, South Goa – 65).
The human toll is significant, with 26 fatalities reported, including 17 riders, 4 pillion riders, and 5 pedestrians. North Goa accounted for 12 deaths, while South Goa reported 14.
Additionally, 17 people sustained grievous injuries (8 in North Goa and 9 in South Goa), and 76 suffered minor injuries (18 in North Goa and 58 in South Goa).
The Directorate of Transport has urged all road users to exercise caution and adhere strictly to traffic rules to prevent further casualties.
Authorities continue to investigate the causes of these accidents and are working on measures to improve road safety across the state.
