MARGAO: Ruben Vernekar, a local businessman accused of arranging the Wednesday morning kidnapping of jeweler Kunal Raikar, was granted anticipatory bail by the Additional Sessions Judge in Margao. The Margao police had not yet taken Vernekar into custody as of late tonight.
According to sources, Vernekar showed up at the Margao police station early on Friday.
With his lawyer present, and he was questioned until 1:00 PM. The identity and locations of three additional people who are suspected of being engaged in Kunal’s abduction attempt are still unknown to the Margao police. The car that was involved in the incident has not yet been seized by the police.
