MARGAO: Margao Town Police have registered a cheating case after an Aquem resident was allegedly duped of ₹4 lakh on the pretext of securing an overseas job in Australia.
According to police, the complaint was filed by Moises Fernandes, resident of Aquem, Margao, stating that on March 23, 2026, at around 11:50 am, an unknown person approached him with an offer of employment in Australia. The accused allegedly dishonestly induced the complainant to transfer ₹4,00,000 through an RTGS transaction.
Police said the accused failed to provide the promised job after receiving the money, thereby cheating the complainant.
Margao Town Police have registered the offence and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Swadesh Dessai.
