ARAMBOL: Mandrem Police today have arrested two more suspected accused in connection with a recent assault on Amar Bandekar that claimed his life.
As per informatiom, the accused have been identified as Lalit Thakur (24) and Vibhishan Kumar (26), both n/o Himachal Pradesh. Both the accused were captured on CCTV during the incident that took place on January 26.
Yesterday, Surender Kumar, 39, a native of Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, arrested by Mandrem police on the charge of murdering Bandekar at Arambol Beach, was remanded in seven days of police custody on Monday by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Pernem.
The accused was working at the Sea Lounge Beach Shack, Arambol, and police stated that the interrogation of other shack staff allegedly involved in the incident is ongoing.
The police claim that Surender and other employees of the Sea Lounge Beach Shack verbally argued with Bandekar about moving chairs that were set up on Arambol Beach by the shack where the accused worked, with the intention of causing harm. As the argument got out of hand, the accused reportedly attacked Bandekar with hard, sharp weapons, slaps, and kicks, seriously injuring him.
The victim was able to get away from the scene to protect himself from additional attacks. But he fell after sprinting a short distance. The on-duty medical officer confirmed him dead after he was taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Tuem.
The case has been filed by Mandrem police in accordance with BNS 2023 Section 103 read with 3(5).
In the meantime, the body was given to the family members for final ceremonies.
