BAMBOLIM: Post mortem report of Amar Bandekar indicates that he died due to blunt force impact injuries for head, face and brain
The cause of death was listed as acute myocardial infarction with coronary artery occlusion, also referred to as a heart attack, combined with blunt force impact injuries to the head, face, and brain, along with an alleged history of assault, according to the post-mortem performed by a physician from the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
The police reported that the heart was saved for histology and the viscera for chemical investigation.
Even though the police have filed a murder case against the accused, the autopsy report may change the direction of the investigation.
The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Pernem, remanded Surender Kumar, 39, a native of Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, in seven days of police detention on Monday after he was apprehended by Mandrem police on suspicion of killing Bandekar at Arambol Beach.
The police claim that Surender and other employees of the Sea Lounge Beach Shack verbally argued with Bandekar about moving chairs that were set up on Arambol Beach by the shack where the accused worked, with the intention of causing harm. As the argument got out of hand, the accused reportedly attacked Bandekar with hard, sharp weapons, slaps, and kicks, seriously injuring him.
The victim was able to get away from the scene to protect himself from additional attacks. But he fell after sprinting a short distance. The on-duty medical officer confirmed him dead after he was taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Tuem.
