Ponda: A case of arson and criminal trespass has been registered at Ponda Police Station following a complaint filed by Mulla Aijaz, a resident near Safa Masjid, Shapur, Ponda.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on December 28, 2025, at around 3.00 am at a construction site at Shapur, Village Bandora, Ponda.
The accused, identified as Dadapeer Shaikh, Nawaz Shaikh, Shailesh Bhosle and others, allegedly formed an unlawful assembly and, in furtherance of their common object, criminally trespassed into the complainant’s property.
The accused reportedly carried flammable substances and set fire to wooden construction materials, including wooden logs and plywood, belonging to the under-construction house of the complainant.
The fire caused extensive damage to the construction materials, resulting in an estimated loss of around ₹21.20 lakh to the complainant.
Police have registered a case in this connection, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Ashish Velip of Ponda Police Station.
