Panaji: Day 8 of the Goa University Inter Collegiate Cricket Men’s Championship 2025–26 featured two competitive matches at the Goa University Ground, with victories recorded by S. S. Dempo College, Cujira and VP’s Mandre College, Pernem.
In the first match of the day, Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce and Economics defeated P.E.S Ravi S. Naik College of Arts and Science by 75 runs in an impressive all round performance.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Dempo College posted a strong total of 198 for 6 in 20 overs. The innings was led by a brilliant knock from Aryan Mashelkar, who scored 82 runs off 46 balls, while Ishan Singh contributed 50 runs from 31 deliveries.
In reply, Ravi Naik College struggled to keep pace and managed 123 for 9 in their 20 overs. Lakshadeep scored 21 off 12 balls, but the Dempo bowlers maintained tight control. Yash Manjrekar starred with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 25 runs, while Ishan Singh added two wickets to cap a strong all round performance.
Aryan Mashelkar was named the top batter, Yash Manjrekar the best bowler and Ishan Singh the top all rounder of the match.
In the second match, VP’s Mandre College of Commerce Economics and Management secured a four wicket victory over Goa College of Agriculture.
Batting first, Goa College of Agriculture were bowled out for 91 in 18.3 overs, with Nityay Kunkolienkar scoring 27 off 15 balls. Shivprasad Tulaskar led the bowling attack with four wickets for 20 runs, supported by Devesh Salgaonkar who took two for nine.
Mandre College chased down the target comfortably, reaching 93 for 6 in just 8.1 overs. The highlight of the innings was a quickfire 55 off 24 balls by Atharv Chandure, who was named the top performer of the match.
The championship continues on March 14 with a scheduled clash between Goa College of Architecture and Goa Medical College at 9:00 am.
