PANAJI: The High Court of Bombay at Goa today has granted anticipatory bail to Pooja Sharma in the Assagao house demolition case.
HC has directed to Pooja to appear for investigation on July 22. She is also directed to not leave the country and surrender passport with the court.
Earlier, in the trial court that rejected her anticipatory bail plea, Sharma alleged that some politicians were involved in the matter and that the police were misusing their power by creating imaginary grounds for her arrest.
She also questioned the presence of CM Sawant and MLA couple Michael and Delilah Lobo at the site soon after the demolition.
Prinsha Agarwadekar had filed the complaint claiming that Sharma, along with other unknown persons, criminally trespassed into the property with an excavator and bouncers with an intention to demolish the house, and abducted her husband and son and took them to an unknown destination.
Two accused were earlier arrested by the Anjuna police, while six more were arrested by the Crime Branch after taking over the case. A four-member special investigation team was formed by the Crime Branch to probe the case.
Later, the police had added nine more sections to the case under Indian Penal Code (IPC). The sections included were that of rioting, intent to outrage modesty and criminal conspiracy.
