ANJUNA: Police have registered a case against the manager and staff of Romeo Lane Restaurant in Vagator after a woman from Uttar Pradesh alleged that she and her family were abused and assaulted by the establishment’s staff in the early hours of Sunday.
According to the complaint lodged by Vaibhavi Chandel, 24, a resident of Varanasi, the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on November 2, 2025, when Ajay Kavtikar, the restaurant’s manager, allegedly abused her and her family members in filthy language.
The complainant stated that Kavtikar, along with Junaid Ali and the restaurant’s security staff, physically assaulted her relatives Shivansh Singh and others. One of the unidentified male security guards allegedly hit her brother Yuvraj Chandel with an iron pole on his chest and back, causing injuries.
When Vaibhavi intervened to protect her brother, she was allegedly slapped and her T-shirt pulled by the same security guard. Another woman from the group, Shivangi Singh, was also allegedly pushed on her chest, causing her to fall to the ground, thereby outraging her modesty.
An offence has been registered at Anjuna Police Station under Sections 352, 118(1), and 74 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, against the accused persons.
PSI Viraj Naik is conducting the investigation under the supervision of PI Suraj Gawas, with overall supervision by SDPO Porvorim Wilson D’Souza and SP North Goa Rahul Gupta, IPS.
Police said further investigation is in progress.
