PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday announced that financial assistance under the Griha Aadhar and Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS) will now be credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts by the 10th of every month, ensuring timely payments and greater transparency.
The Chief Minister said that a total of ₹45.26 crore was directly credited to the bank accounts of over 2.24 lakh beneficiaries across Goa on Tuesday, including several newly registered beneficiaries under both welfare schemes.
Sawant said the decision to ensure that assistance is credited by the 10th of every month aims to eliminate delays and provide greater convenience to beneficiaries who depend on the schemes for financial support.
“The assistance under both schemes will now be credited by the 10th of every month without any delays, ensuring greater transparency and convenience for beneficiaries,” the Chief Minister said.
The financial support was extended in the presence of Women and Child Development and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai.
The Chief Minister said that the Griha Aadhar Scheme provides financial support to homemakers, while the Dayanand Social Security Scheme benefits senior citizens, widows, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable sections of society.
He added that the continued implementation of these schemes reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening social security for families and ensuring that welfare benefits reach those who need them the most.
Sawant said the initiatives are in line with the government’s focus on Antyodaya, aimed at uplifting the poorest and most vulnerable sections of society through targeted welfare programmes.
