Sharing his experience on X, Gadkari wrote, “Represented India at the BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meet in Brasilia — driving the vision for a sustainable, resilient, and future-ready transport ecosystem.” He emphasized India’s major transport initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, including PM GatiShakti, the National Logistics Policy, Bharatmala, and Sagarmala.
These flagship programs aim to create an integrated and future-ready transport system that fosters inclusive growth and enhances regional connectivity. Gadkari further noted, “Honoured to represent India at the BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meeting in Brasilia, where India’s vision for sustainable, resilient, and multimodal transport infrastructure was shared with global partners.”
The BRICS grouping—comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—brings together some of the world’s largest emerging economies. Representing 41% of the global population, 24% of global GDP, and over 16% of world trade, BRICS plays a key role in driving global economic growth. The group has been actively engaging on critical issues spanning political and security, economic and financial, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
The first BRIC meeting took place in 2006, with South Africa joining in 2010, leading to the formation of BRICS. Since then, the grouping has held annual summits to discuss cooperation and development among its member nations.
At this year’s BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meet, India’s focus on transformative infrastructure initiatives reaffirmed its dedication to building a modern, sustainable transport ecosystem aligned with global development goals.
