Shivpuri:
In a disturbing incident that highlights the importance of food safety, a large-scale feast at a temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district turned into a health crisis, affecting over 170 people. The event, which took place on Saturday, was part of a community gathering in the Mamoni Kala gram panchayat area.
District health officials confirmed that the affected individuals, mostly from villages under the Mamoni Kala gram panchayat, began showing symptoms of food poisoning after consuming the food served at the temple. Sanjay Risheshwar, the District Medical and Health Officer, stated that preliminary investigations suggest food poisoning as the cause, although the exact reason will be determined once the full investigation report is available.
The health department has been closely monitoring the situation and has deployed a team of six doctors to the affected villages, including Mamoni Kala, Ladaipura, and Tarpan Ka Purba. According to reports, as many as 170 people complained of vomiting, diarrhoea, and fever and are currently undergoing treatment.
Vinod Mishra, the husband of the Mamoni Kala Gram Panchayat sarpanch, reported that approximately 200 people fell ill after the feast, with more than 60 being rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Other patients received primary treatment within the village.
The incident underscores the need for stringent food safety measures, especially during large community gatherings.
