Panaji: The Athletic Stadium at Cujira, Santa Cruz, Goa, was officially named ATAL STADIUM at a function held on Tuesday evening.
The naming ceremony took place at 5 pm at the Athletic Stadium, Cujira, and was performed by Chief Minister Dr Pramod P. Sawant. The event was attended by Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Dr Ramesh B. Tawadkar, former MLA Francisco Silveira, Vice Chairman of GFDC Dhaku Madkaikar and Director of Sports and Youth Affairs Dr Ajay R. Gaude, who also serves as Ex-Officio Joint Secretary to the Government of Goa and Executive Director of the Sports Authority of Goa.
As part of the programme, the Chief Minister inaugurated the ATAL STADIUM plaque. A photo frame of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also installed during the function.
Dr Ajay R. Gaude welcomed the dignitaries and guests, while Nilesh Naik proposed the vote of thanks.
The function was organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Goa, in association with the Sports Authority of Goa.
