Valpoi’ Donmad-Keri in Sattari has once again come under the radar of thieves, as unidentified miscreants attempted to break into five shops late last night, taking advantage of the darkness.
According to initial reports, the perpetrators first attempted to force entry into three shops but were reportedly spotted and unable to proceed. They then targeted a nearby hair-cutting salon but failed to gain entry. Subsequently, the thieves moved to a wholesale liquor outlet in the vicinity, where they succeeded in breaking in and made away with several bottles of alcohol.
The incident came to light early this morning, following which local police were alerted. A team arrived at the scene, conducted a panchnama, and initiated an investigation into the theft.
This is not the first such incident in the area. Just last month, a house in Donmad-Keri was burgled, with valuables including jewellery and cash reported stolen. Forensic experts and a dog squad were deployed in that case, but no arrests have been made so far.
Despite the presence of a police checkpost nearby, locals have expressed concern over the apparent lapse in night patrolling. They have questioned how such an incident could occur within close proximity of law enforcement and are now demanding increased night surveillance and stronger security measures to prevent further incidents.
