Goemkarponn desk PANAJI: Goa is on track to host the 37th National Games in the first week of November, state’s sports minister Govind Gaude said after his meeting with the Indian Olympic Association top-brass here on Tuesday. A four-member team led by Gaude met IOA president PT Usha, vice president Gagan Narang, joint-secretary Kalyan Choubey among others. Taking the international sports calendar into consideration (from September 23-October 8), Goa is considering organising the National Games from first week of November and the exact dates would be announced soon, Gaude said in an IOA statement.

Goemkarponn desk PANAJI: State Minister for Archaeology, Subhash Phal Dessai, said on Tuesday that his department is vetting the claims of temples destroyed by the Portuguese in Goa, and once confirmed, they will be taken up for restoration or reconstruction. Addressing a press conference here, Dessai said that one such temple of Saptakoteshwar at Narve-Bicholim in North Goa will be reopened on February 11. “This has historical importance. An employee of the ground handling agency was suspended following the incident, which took place on January 29, while the airport entry permits of two others were confiscated, the airport director said on Tuesday.
