In a highest single day spike Goa registered 570 new cases on Thursday with 271 new recoveries and two deaths. The death toll in the State has reached 91. Goa also crossed 10000-mark as it is currently has 10494 confirmed cases. The active cases now are 3491 and recoveries are 6912. Noted gangster Zenito Cardozo, who is one of the accused in St Cruz shootout, has been remanded to five days police custody by JMFC on Thursday. Zenito, who was had filed for anticipatory bail, had surrendered before the SSDPO, Panaji on Wednesday, Cardozo had moved the local court seeking relief from arrest after the North Goa Police launched a massive hunt to trace his whereabouts. PANJIM: A Division Bench of the Bombay High Court at Goa comprising of Justice M.S.Sonak and Justice M.S.Jawalkar today directed that notices be issued to the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP), the Goa Government and the 21 nominated on the seven Ward committees constituted by the CCP. PANJIM: As many as 26 village panchayats from the mining belts have approached the Supreme Court with an interlocutory application (IA) seeking impleadment in the Goa mining case, which is likely to be heard on August 18.
