At around 7:30 pm on 24 November 2025, police received a call from the hospital casualty informing that Birendra Soreng, aged 43 and a resident of Simdega, Jharkhand, had been brought in by a 108 ambulance from Varca. Margao Town Police registered Crime No. 104/2025 under Section 118(2) of the BNS 2023 based on a state complaint filed by ASI Santosh Gaonkar.
