MARGAO: South Goa Collector and District Election Officer Egna Cleetus convened a meeting of the Election Expenditure Monitoring Team along with representatives of key enforcement agencies to ensure strict vigilance ahead of the upcoming by-election.
Officials from the Income Tax Department, police, Customs, Excise, Lead Bank, and Fire Services attended the meeting, where detailed instructions were issued to monitor financial activities closely.
The Collector directed all agencies to keep a strict watch on suspicious or illegal transactions and ensure timely reporting, with the aim of maintaining transparency and smooth conduct of the bye-election to the 21 Ponda Assembly Constituency scheduled for April 9, 2026.
Authorities emphasised coordinated efforts among departments to curb malpractices and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
