PANAJI: Ayaan Shaikh, Harsh Mane, Ritika Chelluri, Janhavi Mahale, Yash Halarnkar, Sakshi K, Nidhi Desai and Anish Kamat secured double crowns each, at the State Ranking Badminton Tournament for Sub Juniors and Juniors organised by Panjim Warriors Club in collaboration with Goa Badminton Association and the Sports Authority of Goa.
In the finals held at Indoor stadium, Campal, Panaji, Advait Balakrishnan, Parasmay Shenoy, Sagun Singh, Yash Desai, Jiya Kamat, Vedant Chauhan, Dhiti Lotlikar, Aryan Kumar and Minoshka Pereira were the other title winners during the four day State Ranking tournament powered by Adidas Badminton and Parama Heartbeat Sports.
Ayaan, seeded number three in the tournament, was in scintillating form, emerging winner in Junior Boys Under 19 Singles and doubles categories.
Following his upset win over top seed Nishant Shenai in the semi finals, Ayaan replicated his fine touch to register another upset 21-11, 23-21 win over second seed Anish Kamath in the Junior Boys Finals. In Junior Boys Doubles, Ayaan along with his partner Yash Halarnkar recorded a thrilling 13-21, 21-19, 24-22 win over Aryaman Saraf / Chetan Magdum in a thrilling doubles finals.
Harsh Mane was equally impressive in the sub junior category. The top seed who is ranked number 11 in India, defeated number two seed Yash Desai in Sub Junior U15 Boys finals with a 21-14, 23-21 score line. Harsh and Yash teamed up to lift the U15 Doubles title with a 21-18, 21-18 win over Shaheen C.K / Pranav Naik. Aarush Pawaskar.
