CANACONA: Adarsh Yuva Sangh (AYS) is gearing up to host its 25th edition of Lokosthav from December 19 to 21, 2025, at Adarsh Gram, Amonem (Poinguinim), Canacona, with this year’s celebrations going international for the first time. Announcing the festival at a press conference at Ravindra Bhavan, Canacona, AYS Founder President and Organising Committee Chairman, Goa Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, stated that troupes from two foreign countries will participate, showcasing their traditional folk art and culture, marking a significant milestone in the festival’s silver jubilee year. He recalled that Lokosthav-24 had a national footprint with participation from 12 different states, and said Lokosthav-25 aims to facilitate a cultural exchange between India and the invited international troupes.
During the event, the festival brochure was unveiled by Ramesh Tawadkar along with AYS office bearers including President Chandrakant Velip, Secretary Deepak Velip, Vice President Rupesh Tawadkar, Joint Secretary Payak Velip, and Treasurer Gangesh Velip. One of the festival highlights will be a National Level Marathon Run of approximately 20 km, expected to attract 25,000 participants from Goa and across India. Over three days, Lokosthav-25 will feature a wide array of cultural, educational, and sports activities, including school-level competitions in Fancy Dress, Drawing, Storytelling, Patriotic Songs, Poster Making, Mime, Monologue, Ghumat Arti, Quiz, Rangoli, Elocution, Face Painting, Solo Singing/Dancing, and Dandiya/Garba; open category events like Stand-up Comedy, Karaoke, Street Plays, and Solo Performances; state-level competitions such as the Science Project Exhibition and Adventure Activities; traditional handicraft, Ayurvedic medicine, and food exhibitions; folk dance performances by Western Zone and national artists; and sports events including Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, and traditional games.
The Arts & Culture and Tribal Welfare Departments of the Goa government will support the organization of the festival. Lokosthav-25 promises to be a grand celebration of cultural diversity, sports, and community engagement, drawing participants and spectators from across Goa, India, and abroad.
