Panaji:Ayurveda and traditional Indian systems of medicine have achieved unprecedented global recognition under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said on Wednesday, while stressing the need to expand holistic healthcare and wellness tourism in the state.
Dr. Sawant was speaking at the National Doctors’ Day celebrations organised by the Goa Council of Ayurvedic and Other Allied Indian Systems of Medicine, where he was conferred the Gomant Ayurved Vibhushan Puraskar.
Expressing gratitude for the honour, the Chief Minister thanked the organisers for the recognition and paid tribute to Shri Dev Dhanvantari, revered as the divine pioneer of Ayurveda.
He noted that Goa is making steady progress in the sector, with measures such as digital council registrations and last-mile access to Ayurvedic care.
Dr. Sawant reaffirmed the commitment of the Union and State Governments to strengthen Ayurveda and holistic health systems across India.
He also urged all stakeholders to collaborate in promoting preventive care, innovative research, and wellness tourism for a healthier tomorrow.
