Panaji: Baale Tigers and Priority Titans delivered dominant performances on Sunday to claim crucial victories in the ongoing PGML 5.0 cricket tournament at the Panjim Gymkhana ground.
In the morning match, Baale Tigers set a challenging total of 188 for 6 in their 20 overs against Sherwin Shaw Falcons. Captain Lakshay Garg led from the front with a fluent 52 off 32 balls, while Niraj Lotlekar contributed 38. Rajaram Kundaikar added a quickfire 37 off 14 deliveries, providing late impetus. In reply, Sherwin Shaw Falcons managed only 164 runs, despite a brisk 40 from captain Saif Ali Karajgi and 35 from Tunish Sawkar. Lakshay Garg excelled with the ball as well, taking three wickets, with Prasad Patil supporting with two scalps, helping Baale Tigers secure a 24-run victory.
In the afternoon fixture, Priority Titans outplayed Dempo Challengers by 33 runs. Batting first, the Titans scored 167 for 8, led by Atharva’s 41, Adeep Prabhu Miskin’s 33, and Yeshwant Barde’s 37 off 24 balls. Chasing the target, Dempo Challengers struggled despite a fighting 50 from Vishesh and 27 from Dr. Sunny, finishing at 134 for 9. Titans’ Yeshwant Barde shone with the ball, taking 2 wickets, while Dinesh Pai provided valuable support with 2 for 18.
After Sunday’s results, RC Goa, Priority Titans, and Baale Tigers occupy the top three positions on the points table with eight points each, followed by Manas Mavericks and Sherwin Shaw Falcons with six points. Desserts N More Avengers have four points, while Sun Estate Warriors and Dempo Challengers remain at the bottom with two points each.
