Mapusa: The Mapusa Sessions Court today rejected the bail applications of Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra in connection with the Arpora fire tragedy at Birch by Romeo Lane, which occurred on the intervening night of December 6 and 7, 2025, claiming 25 lives.
The two accused had sought bail in the case, but the court declined to grant relief after hearing the arguments. The fire incident, one of the deadliest in recent times in the State, had sent shockwaves across Goa and raised serious questions about safety compliance and accountability.
Advocate Vishnu Joshi, appearing for the victims’ families, termed the court’s decision a significant moment for those who lost their loved ones in the tragedy. “It is a day of victory for all 25 families who lost their dear ones. We will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the maximum punishment is delivered,” he said.
The devastating blaze at the Arpora nightclub led to multiple fatalities and sparked intense public outrage, with demands for strict action against those responsible. Investigations into alleged lapses and violations are ongoing.
With the Sessions Court rejecting their pleas, the Luthra brothers will continue to remain in custody. The accused retain the option to approach a higher court for relief.
