PONDA: In what could be said to be a man made disaster Hundreds of coconut trees, banana trees, battlenut trees destroys as Bagayats, Paddy fields Submerged under saline water since past one year,however authorities totally negelected towards their demand to close the door of sluice gate which is main reason for destruction of their Bagayats. The farmers said the total crop loss goes to lakhs and this was the only source of their livelihood.
Bandora farmers were crying for their crops they had grown up with hard efforts on verge of destruction due to negelegent of auhorities. The Locals said the doors of sluice gate are kept open at Gandyar Marcaim and so during high tide their entire Bagayat trees submege under water. They demands d Mamlatdar, Panchayat, Agriculture Department take action agaisnt illegal opening sluice gate at Gandyar Marcaim.
The farmers said coconut trees are stopped bearing coconuts, the banana tree and other masala trees are also destroyed. The hundreds of battlenuts trees are also destroyed .
The issue came in Gramsabha where in Sarpanch Sukanand Kurpaskar said the Panchayat had already informed Mamlatdar and Agriculture Department and joint inspection scheduled next week.
He also said the Panchayat is trying to recover around 21 lakh pending house tax arrears. He said recently Rs 10,000 was recovered.
