PANAJI: Panaji Police have registered an offence under Sections 409 and 420 IPC against Rajat Tripathi, a Senior Manager at Canara Bank’s Caranzalem branch, for allegedly misappropriating bank funds amounting to Rs 64.25 lakh.
The case was filed on April 11, 2026, following a complaint by Arun Kumar A.G., Assistant General Manager. As per the complaint, the accused allegedly sanctioned a loan in his own name without proper approval and further created multiple loan accounts in the names of unsuspecting customers without their knowledge.
Police said these accounts were used to adjust and divert the loan amounts, resulting in financial loss to the bank. An investigation is currently underway under PSI Deepesh Shetkar to probe the extent of the fraud and identify any additional irregularities.
