PANAJI: Oxford Cricket Club from Goa continued their strong campaign with a convincing eight wicket victory over Ved Sports Club, Gadhinglaj, in the Late Rajan Bhai Angane Memorial Under 16 Cricket Tournament organised by Aim Cricket Academy, Sawantwadi. The match was played at the Boarding Ground in Malvan on Friday.
Oxford produced an impressive all round performance to register their second consecutive win in the tournament. Chasing a target of 163, the team approached the innings with aggressive intent and completed the chase comfortably, scoring 165 for 2 in just 14.3 overs.
Earlier, Ved Sports Club posted 162 for 7 in their allotted 40 overs after being asked to bat. Krish Verma was the top scorer with a steady 46, while captain Hardik Birambole added valuable runs with an unbeaten 31. Despite these contributions, the team struggled to accelerate as Oxford’s disciplined bowling attack kept the scoring under control.
Abhisek Lamani delivered another strong performance with the ball, picking up three wickets for 26 runs and maintaining pressure on the opposition. He received good support from Farhan Shaikh, who claimed two wickets for 21 runs, and Harsh Nain, who finished with figures of two for 20. Their combined effort ensured regular breakthroughs and prevented Ved Sports Club from building major partnerships.
Oxford’s chase was headlined by a stunning innings from Barhaan Dash, who turned the game decisively in his team’s favour. The young batter smashed a rapid 58 off just 24 deliveries, striking several boundaries and putting the bowlers under immense pressure from the outset.
Yash Naik remained unbeaten on 27, while Aayush Gaonkar added an unbeaten 23 to guide the side to victory with ease. Their composed finishing ensured Oxford reached the target quickly and secured a comfortable win.
For his explosive batting performance that set up the victory, Barhaan Dash was named Man of the Match.
