PANAJI: Goa endured a tough outing in the Women’s Under 15 One Day Trophy Elite as they suffered a comprehensive 10 wicket defeat against Baroda on Friday at the Dr. P. V. G. Raju ACA Cricket Complex in Vizianagaram.
After winning the toss, Goa opted to bat first but struggled to cope with Baroda’s disciplined bowling attack. The Goa batters found it difficult to rotate strike or build partnerships and eventually managed only 64 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 35 overs. The low total put immediate pressure on the team and left little margin for error.
Goa’s innings never gathered momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. Joya Meer was the top scorer with a fighting 14, showing some resistance in the middle order. Vidika Sawant remained unbeaten on 12, while Sreeshtika Shivarkar contributed 10, making them the only other batters to reach double figures. The rest of the lineup failed to provide support, allowing Baroda to stay firmly in control throughout the innings.
Baroda’s bowling effort was led by Aadhya Patel, who delivered an excellent spell to pick up four wickets and restrict Goa to a modest total. She received good support from the rest of the bowling unit, which maintained consistent pressure and limited scoring opportunities.
Chasing a small target of 65, Baroda made light work of the task. Openers Pratha Vanar and Naysha Tivari put together an unbroken partnership and guided their team to victory without losing a wicket. Tivari played a confident knock of 48 not out, while Vanar remained unbeaten on 17, as Baroda reached 67 in just 10.1 overs to seal a dominant win.
Goa’s bowlers tried different options but were unable to break the opening stand or slow the scoring rate. With no wickets falling, Baroda completed the chase comfortably and claimed full points from the encounter.
Despite the setback, Goa will look to regroup quickly as they prepare for their next match against Hyderabad on the 4th. The team will aim to improve its batting performance and come back stronger in the remaining fixtures of the tournament.
