OLDGOA: The Basilica of Bom Jesus will remain closed for tourists and other visitors from the morning of April 2 until 11 am on April 5 on account of religious services during the Holy Week Triduum.
In a statement, Rector Fr Patricio Fernandes, SJ, said liturgical services for the Catholic community will be conducted during the sacred Paschal Triduum, and all services will be held in English.
On Maundy Thursday (April 2), the Lord’s Supper liturgical service will begin at 5 pm.
On Good Friday (April 3), the Passion of the Lord service will begin at 3 pm. Earlier in the day, devotions will include The Way of the Cross at 10 am, The Three Hour Agony at 12 pm, and the Divine Mercy Novena.
On Holy Saturday (April 4), the devotion “Mater Dolorosa” will be held at 10 am, while the Easter Vigil service will commence at 11.30 pm.
On Easter Sunday morning (April 5), Masses will be celebrated at 6 am, 7 am, 8 am (Konkani), and 9.15 am (English), the Rector stated, adding that the basilica will reopen to visitors after 11 am on April 5.
