Panaji: Students of FY BBA (Travel & Tourism) undertook an academic field trip to EnviroSkills Academy on February 13, 2026, to gain practical exposure to dining etiquette and the hospitality and skill development industry.
The visit began at 10:15 a.m. with an introductory session by Principal Chef Moses Fernandes, who presented an overview of the academy’s vision, infrastructure and academic programmes. He highlighted the key qualities essential in the hospitality sector, including empathy, understanding customer needs and adaptability, stressing their importance in delivering exceptional service in a dynamic industry.
An engaging session on dining etiquette followed, conducted by F&B Head Douglas De Souza. Students were introduced to professional table manners, appropriate dining behaviour and industry standards. Live demonstrations on formal plating and informal à la carte service enhanced the practical learning experience.
The field trip also included a guided tour of various departments, including housekeeping, where students observed bed-making techniques and operational procedures. Interaction with academy students and light refreshments added warmth and engagement to the visit.
Overall, the academic excursion proved to be insightful and enriching, equipping students with valuable hands-on knowledge of hospitality etiquette and offering deeper insights into career opportunities within the hotel management and tourism sectors.
