New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is preparing for its Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for the last week of September in Mumbai. Ahead of the AGM, a high-level closed-door meeting of senior BCCI officials will be held to discuss and finalise candidates for key leadership posts.
While the posts of secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer are likely to remain unchanged, elections will be conducted for the positions of president and vice-president — roles that will significantly shape the board’s future direction.
Current vice-president Rajeev Shukla has emerged as a central figure in discussions, with three possible outcomes being considered: continuing as vice-president, being elevated to BCCI president, or taking over as IPL chairman. Reports suggest a “60-40 possibility” of Shukla stepping into the president’s role, though his continuation as vice-president remains the most likely scenario.
The IPL chairmanship could also see a change, with former BCCI treasurer Anirudh Choudhury and IPL Governing Council member Avishek Dalmiya reportedly under consideration.
A formal notice for the AGM is expected within two to three days. The upcoming meeting will likely set the tone for the elections and shape internal power dynamics within the world’s richest cricket board.
