CANACONA: ‘It’s only because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the forest-dwellers in the country gets justice – Union Minister of State for Tribal affairs Durgadas Ukei
Ukei was speaking at the closing ceremony of Birsa Munda’s 150th birth anniversary Rally taken in Canacona on Wednesday.
Speaking further Ukei said, Shri Ram lived in exile for 14 long years, and during that time the tribals themselves took care and served him. The historical facts of Hanuman, Sabri, Ghatotkoch should come before the people and known to all. Due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the tribal community in India got a president, eight ministers in the central union ministry, and three governors.
Union Minister of State for Tribal Welfare Durgadas Ukeyi further stated that after the independence of the country, the celebrations of Birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter Birsa Munda also started with the initiation taken by Narendra Modi.
On the occasion, Canacona MLA and Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar was on the platform, alongwith Director of Tribal Welfare Department Dashrath Redkar, SC-ST Commission president Deepak Karamalkar, Ankush Gaonkar, CMC Councillors Hemant Naik Gaonkar, Simon Rebello, Amita Pagi, Shristhal Sarpanch Sejal Gaonkar, Zilla Panchayat member (Poinguinim) Shobhana Velip, Canacona Deputy Collector Madhu Narvekar, South Goa Zilla Panchayat District president Sanjana Velip, ZP Kushali Velip were present.
Speaking further, Ukei said that the forest dwellers also played a major role in giving independence to the country.
Speaker Ramesh Tavadkar said that being the descendant of Lord Birsa Munda, we should come forward and not lag behind, and that’s because of the large rally taken these days, the work of Lord Birsa Munda has reached amongst and known to the masses. Tawadkar thanked all those who cooperated on the occasion of Birsa Munda Yatra and participated in it.
Deepak Karmalkar also gave a speech on this occasion.
