ANMOD: Traffic between Goa and Karnataka has been thrown into disarray after a section of the Belagavi–Goa Highway caved in late Friday night at Anmod Ghat, following heavy rainfall in the area.
Officials said the collapse on the Goa side of the ghat created a hazardous gap that left the highway impassable, forcing authorities to divert vehicles and advise motorists to avoid the route entirely until further notice.
Emergency teams have been rushed to the site to assess the extent of the damage and begin urgent repair work. Engineers are working to stabilize the area and restore safe passage as quickly as possible.
The disruption has severely impacted travel and the movement of goods between Goa and Karnataka.
Motorists have been urged to use alternative routes and to monitor updates from local authorities to minimize inconvenience.
