BENAULIM: Social worker Warren Alemao has called on the Public Works Department (PWD) to urgently install a submersible pump at the Seraulim underpass, citing repeated flooding that has hindered movement in the area.
In a written appeal to the PWD Minister, Alemao said residents have long faced waterlogging problems, especially during the monsoon when the underpass often becomes unusable. An inspection conducted with locals last week reportedly confirmed that both commuters and pedestrians are inconvenienced every time the stretch floods.
Alemao met the Minister on Tuesday to press for immediate action, stressing that a pump would help maintain proper drainage and prevent recurring blockages. With Christmas approaching and public movement expected to increase, he said the issue needs prompt attention.
Calling it a matter of safety and daily convenience for Seraulim residents, Alemao said he will continue to pursue the matter until a solution is implemented.
