MANDREM: A 46-year-old tourist from Bengaluru drowned while swimming at Morjim beach on February 14, 2026. Police have registered an Unnatural Death (UD) case under Section 194 of the BNSS at the Mandrem Police Station.
According to police information, UD No. 14/2026 was registered at 7:26 pm after PSI Kunal Naik reported the incident. The deceased, identified as Kantharaj K (46), a native of Bengaluru, was brought dead to CHC Tuem by 108 ambulance services following a drowning incident.
During inquiry, colleagues of the deceased informed police that he, along with several other staff members of a government hospital, had come to Goa on a visit. On February 14, they had gone to Morjim beach, where the deceased and three others entered the sea for a swim.
At around 4:00 pm, a strong wave reportedly formed, causing them to drift further into the sea. While three persons managed to swim back to shore safely, Kantharaj is suspected to have suffocated in the water and lost consciousness.
Lifeguards rushed to his assistance and rescued him from the sea. He was immediately shifted to CHC Tuem, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police have stated that no foul play is suspected. Further investigation is in progress with PSI Kunal Naik of Mandrem Police Station.
