Panjim: In a thrilling display of skill and strategy, Betalbatim Sporting Club decisively defeated Fr. Agnelo YSC Paroda with a 3-0 scoreline, securing their place in the quarterfinals of the United Trophy. Organized by the United Club of Telaulim, this pivotal match took place at the Rosary Church ground in Navelim, marking a significant step forward for Betalbatim.
The match saw Betalbatim’s Elroy Fernandes lead the charge, scoring the first goal in the 17th minute, assisted by Dickson Rogtao. Despite efforts from Fr. Agnelo YSC Paroda, they failed to equalize, allowing Betalbatim to maintain a 1-0 advantage at halftime. The second session brought further success for Betalbatim as Elroy Fernandes completed his brace with a goal in the 42nd minute. Klusner Pereira sealed the victory with a third goal in the 63rd minute, securing Betalbatim’s place in the quarterfinals. Elroy Fernandes’s outstanding performance earned him the man of the match award, presented by Donald Rocha, coach of Cavelossim Club.
