Clearly, this shows the progress India and Goa have made since independence and Liberation. It is time for every Goan to celebrate the achievements of the two girls.
Of Course, to top it up, Indian Girls defeated Australia in the One-day cricket match, which was the defeat after a long time for the Kangaroos.
All this has come when the Taliban has taken over Afghanistan and suppressed women’s voices, education, etc. Indeed we should be proud of their achievements.
This also shows the Indian and Goan women can conquer the skies if given freedom and support.
While these were the achievements that every Goan will celebrate, it was sad to hear about two molestation cases in Mapusa on daughters day.
When will our society grow? No matter how much we try, some incidents put fear in our minds now and then.

Indeed, what a gift the two daughters of Goa gave just ahead of the very daughters day.
While a 21-year old Sankhali girl, Richa Govekar, made Goa proud by successfully completing her three-year pilot training at Baramati recently
another girl who completed her secondary education in Goa, Sneha Dubey, made the State proud with her fiery speech at the United Nations, wherein she ripped through Pakistan PM Imran Khan.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant was quick to Congratulate Dubey and Govekar.
“On behalf of the entire State of Goa, I would like to congratulate IFS #SnehaDubey, who represented India at UNGA and gave a befitting reply to Pakistan. She did her school education in Goa and built strong foundations of life,” Mr Sawant tweeted.
Clearly, this shows the progress India and Goa have made since independence and Liberation. It is time for every Goan to celebrate the achievements of the two girls.

When Indian women conquer the world and touch the sky, they are not safe in their very homes.
In our very own Goa, we have seen hundreds of cases of rape, molestations and crimes against women. When will the mindset of social change?
It’s time, instead of praising one or two daughters, we need to start this from our homes – give equal treatment to sons and daughters and educate the sons more against cruelty against women.
As much as we restrain our daughters from staying late outside at night, we can educate our sons in the same manner.
Moreover, we need to inculcate in the minds of our sons to respect women.
However, while all this is being said and discussed, one is at the loss of words when there is sexual abuse on a female patient from a doctor. A doctor, who is considered God, as he gives life, does such a grievous crime; what more can be told about our society’s mindset.
As much as we would want to believe otherwise, it’s very easy to notice how differently our society has raised sons and daughters.
It doesn’t really matter where they live or what background they come from; this familiar story represents most of the population globally. As little girls of today become the women of tomorrow, they need to have a voice and a mind of their own, and that is precisely what we have been teaching our daughters.
This has come behind a deliberate shift made by the last few generations of parents to bring up their daughters to be strong and independent.
But, as we speak about gender equality, we are missing the whole picture. There are some areas that we’re subconsciously ignoring which need our attention.
